I spent Easter at a horse show this year. And I am so glad I did! They held Easter services Sunday morning and Ed Harrison, exhibitor and Easter morning preacher, inspired this post.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
Matthew 28: 5-6
This may be a familiar verse for most of us. But what was new was the focus of the sermon. Unlike most message we hear associated with this verse, Pastor Ed focused on just four words: “Just Like He Said.”
Jesus did what He said He would do. He was crucified, killed, and buried. Then, three days later He was raised to life…just like He said. This is a beautiful reminder that we can count on God to follow through on His promises to us. The answers may not come like we thought they would or when we preferred they would, but you can cling to His faithfulness. God will always bring His Word to pass.
He promised Abraham a son and the promised son was born to him … twenty-five years later. He promised the Israelites a Messiah and Jesus was born … in a manger, as the Lamb of God who would die for our sins rather than the conquering earthly king they expected.
Have you received a promise from God? Has his voice whispered something to your heart, but you can’t yet see the evidence of its manifestation?
Hold on to hope because our God is a promise keeper who will do just what He says. And in the waiting, we trust, we pray, we look faithfully to the One who holds the world in His hands.
When you are tempted to let frustration fill you, turn it into praise for our great and loving God. Worshiping our creator has a way of tuning our hearts to the frequency of the Holy Spirit. And there in our praise, we will find renewed strength, hope, and confidence in God.
Trust that He will do just what He said. He won’t let you down. His timing is perfect, His love is unfailing, His Word unstoppable.
Jesus will do just what He said, let that truth spark greater faith and trust in Him.
